Bride and groom during their wedding ceremony

You have decided to have a drone video made of your wedding. Great! But how do you make sure the result is as spectacular as possible? After years of experience, we have listed the 10 most important tips that make the difference between a good drone wedding film and an unforgettable one.

1 Book Early Enough

Wedding season (May to September) is extremely busy. The most popular dates, Saturdays in June, July or August, are often fully booked a year in advance. Want to be sure of a good drone videographer? Then book at least 6 months in advance.

2 Share Your Wedding Day Schedule

The better we know your schedule, the better we can plan when to fly. Send it to us at least 2 weeks before the wedding, including times, locations and any special moments you would love to see from the air.

3 Plan Around Golden Hour

The golden hour, the hour before sunset, gives you the most beautiful drone footage. The warm, golden light makes every shot feel magical. Tip: plan your photo shoot or a short walk together around this time.

Check online when the sun sets on your wedding date and plan around it. Your wedding planner can help you adjust the schedule.

4 Let Your Venue Know

Tell your wedding venue that a drone will be used. Most venues allow it, but some have specific rules about times or flying heights. Sorting this out in advance avoids surprises on the day itself.

5 Work Together with Your Photographer/Videographer

The best results come when the drone videographer and the ground team work together. Share our contact details with your photographer and videographer, and we will agree on the key moments beforehand. That way we complement each other instead of getting in each other's way.

6 Think About Outfits and Colours

From the air, contrasting colours stand out even more. A white dress on green grass, a dark suit against a light beach: those are the images that leap off the screen. Talk to your stylist about colours that work well from above.

7 Plan a Drone Moment

Set aside 15-20 minutes in your schedule just for drone footage. This could be a walk through the garden, a moment together by the water, or a visit to a lovely spot near the venue. Calm and space make for the best footage.

8 Have a Weather Plan B

Dutch weather is unpredictable. Agree with your drone videographer in advance on what happens if there is rain or strong wind. At DronesVoorBruiloft.nl we always look for other moments during the day. The sun often breaks through later on.

9 Don't Forget the Group Photo

A group photo of all your guests from the air is a unique keepsake. Plan it into the day (just after the ceremony often works best) and ask your master of ceremonies, the person running the day, to gather everyone. 5 minutes is enough for a spectacular aerial photo.

10 Trust the Professional

You have hired a specialist, so trust their expertise. An experienced drone videographer spots opportunities you might miss: a beautiful line in the landscape, a play of light and shadow, or an unexpectedly lovely corner of the venue.

Bonus Tip: Watch Examples Together

Watch some example videos of previous work together and talk about what appeals to you. Is it the wide landscape shots? The intimate shots of the two of you? The dynamic follow shots? Share your preferences, and the drone videographer can work with them.
