More and more couples are choosing to have a drone video made of their wedding. And no wonder: breathtaking aerial footage gives your wedding day a whole new perspective. But how exactly does it work? What can you expect? And what should you look out for? In this complete guide we answer all your questions.
Why a Drone Video for Your Wedding?
A wedding video with a drone offers something no other technique can: a bird's-eye view of your big day. Picture it: a smooth shot that starts high above the venue, slowly zooms in on the grounds and ends with the two of you as a couple. That is footage you will treasure for a lifetime.
The benefits of a drone video at your wedding:
- Unique perspective – Footage that no ground camera can capture
- Your venue in view – The beautiful wedding venue fully in view, including gardens, water and surroundings
- Cinematic effect – Professional aerial footage gives your wedding film a filmic feel
- Wow factor – Guests and family are always impressed by the aerial footage
- Timeless – The footage will still look spectacular in 20 years
How Does the Process Work?
1. Introduction and Planning
It starts with a no-obligation conversation. We discuss your wishes, the venue, the schedule and any special moments you would like captured from the air. Then we check the flying options at the venue and plan the flight moments.
2. Venue Check
You cannot fly everywhere in the Netherlands. We check all the regulations in advance and arrange the right permits where needed. That way you can be sure everything is legal and safe. As certified pilots with A1/A3 and A2 licences (the European drone pilot certificates), we know all the rules.
3. The Wedding Day
On the big day we arrive in good time to set up the equipment. We fly at the agreed moments and work closely with your photographer and/or videographer. The drone is surprisingly quiet and discreet, so it hardly bothers your guests.
4. Editing and Delivery
After the wedding we edit all the footage. Depending on your package, you receive raw 4K files, an edited highlight clip, or both. Everything is delivered digitally via a secure download link.
Tips for the Perfect Drone Video
- Book early – Popular wedding dates fill up fast, so book at least 3-6 months in advance
- Talk to your wedding venue – Let the venue know that a drone will be used
- Think about the schedule – The best aerial footage is shot during golden hour (1 hour before sunset)
- Combine with ground video – A drone video is the perfect addition to traditional videography
- Trust the specialist – An experienced drone videographer knows exactly when and how to fly
What Does a Wedding Drone Video Cost?
The cost of a drone video at your wedding depends on the number of hours, the editing and the location. At DronesVoorBruiloft.nl you choose from three packages: Silver, Gold (the most popular, with an edited clip) and Platinum for larger productions. View the packages or request a tailored quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you fly when it rains?
Unfortunately it is not safe to fly in the rain. With light cloud or wind up to force 5 on the Beaufort scale, we can usually still fly. We keep a close eye on the weather and always discuss alternatives with you.
How long does a drone session last?
A typical session lasts 1-3 hours, depending on the package you choose. We fly in several short sessions of 15-20 minutes, so we can swap batteries and capture the best moments.
Will it bother the guests?
Our drones are specially selected for being quiet. We fly at a respectful distance and only at the agreed moments. Most guests actually find it fun and special.
